The South African international put pen to paper on a 12-month deal after proving his fitness during a trial spell at the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce told the club's website: "Quinton is a player who I have admired for a very long time.

"He is a quality performer with plenty of Premier League experience and he can play in a number of positions. He will be a very welcome addition to our squad."

Meanwhile, Andranik Teymourian's move to Bolton could be in doubt after reports in Iran revealed the midfielder has been refused a work permit.

Teymourian had previously stated that he was expecting to join Bolton following his trial at The Reebok Stadium but the move is now in jeopardy after the Home Office turned down the request for a work permit.

Bolton are expected to appeal against the decision.

In other news, Bolton are reportedly ready to make a record bid for Serbian international Nikola Zigic.

The giant hitman, who is 6ft 9in, currently plays for Red Star Belgrade and The Mirror claims that Sam Allardyce watched the 25-year-old in Champions League qualifying action against Cork on Wednesday night.
