Aberdeen have made former Bolton Wanderers youngster Michael Bird available for transfer after the striker failed to settle north of the border following his move from the Reebok Stadium in the summer.

The 20-year old was released by Wanderers at the end of the 2002-2003 season having failed to make a first team breakthrough and decided to move to Pittodrie after a successful pre-season trial, however his time with Steve Paterson's side hasn't gone as well as planned and now the Chester-born player is now looking to return south.

Bird is one of eight players made available by the Dons having made only three appearances this term. The others are Eric Deloumeaux, Duncan Jones, Darren Mackie, Murray McCulloch, Jamie McQuilken, Scott Michie and former Bury, Stockport County and Sheffield United forward Laurent D'Jaffo.

On Bird's departure Paterson commented "Michael Bird has not settled since his move to Scotland and he is keen to return south"
