Bolton Wanderers Academy have announced that four new Scholars will be joining them for the new season in what will be the last season under the current Scholarship programme.

The old scholarship programme which has been running for the last few seasons will be replaced by a new modern apprenticeship scheme and the finishing touches to the new plans are expected to be completed by 2005.

Dr Fran Walsh, who is the Head of Education and Welfare for boys at the Club's Academy since 1998 explains that the new intake of four youngsters will be the last we will see under the current scholarship scheme.

"Unfortunately this years intake will be the last on the present Scholarship scheme since it is being replaced by a new modern apprenticeship which is currently restrictive, money-driven and offers little choice to the boys. The boys on this years intake truly are the last of the scholars." Walsh said

The new Scholars for next season will be:

Karl Luisi - a striker from Preston
Luke Magill - a midfielder from the USA
James Sinclair - a striker from Newcastle
Danny Stott - a defender from Bolton
