Portuguese striker Ricardo Vaz-Te gave Bolton Wanderers the all important three points in their FA Premier Reserve League clash against Newcastle United this evening.

Vaz-Te struck his 13th reserve league goal of the season to give the Trotters their first back to back victory since the beginning of November. Ironically that winter winning streak was ended by tonight's opponents but Bolton ensured that they got the perfect revenge over their North East hosts at the Newcastle Falcons RUFC ground.

Bolton had a number of experienced faces on show including Andy Oakes, Anthony Barness, Julio Cesar and Florent Laville - the latter of whom could have so easily grabbed a second goal for the Trotters to kill the game off.

Newcastle lost Carl Finnigan through injury early on in the match and his replacement Mark Doninger was in the thick of things as soon as he entered the action, firstly he was given a caution by the match referee for a foul on Trotters full back Jason Talbot and then he headed straight at Andy Oakes for the first home chance of the match.

Wanderers had their on-loan goalkeeper Oakes to thank for twice denying Newcastle striker Marc Walton whilst at the other end some good defensive play from David Edgar prevented Bolton attacker Bedi Buval from further adding to the Lancashire sides advantage.

The second half saw the Magpies come very close to levelling on two occasions as full back Kris Gate saw his header come back off the woodwork. Team mate Alan O'Brien was also thwarted late on by the impressive Oakes who dived at the feet of the young Irishman to prevent him from scoring.
