Bolton Wanderers Reserves claimed their first win of the season as they defeated local rivals Manchester City 2-1 in the Manchester Senior Cup at Leyland last night with Brazilian striker Mario Jardel once again getting on the scoresheet.

The 30-year old former Galatasary player hit two second half goals on 55 and 70 minutes to cancel out a first half opener by City's Dutch defender Gerard Wiekens on 14 minutes. Jardel's first goal showed some good technique to turn the ball past the Blues keeper Nicky Weaver whilst his second was a typical poachers goal.

It is now six goals in a week for the striker and he will be hoping that he is nearing ever closer to making the starting line up in the first team as he looks to the live SKY game against Aston Villa on Sunday to make his mark.
