Republic of Ireland youth international Joey O'Brien earned Bolton Reserves a point as they took on top of the table Birmingham City at the County Ground this evening.

The 1-1 scoreline from the game mirrored the Premiership scoreline between the two sides just two days ago and the similarities were there with the game very much full of chances.

Andrew Barrowman (Birmingham) and Florent Laville (Bolton) both had first half goals ruled out due to infringements on the opposing goalkeepers whilst both sides had a handful of opportunities to take the lead.

Blues midfielder Carl Motteram had two shots from distance but it was former Arsenal youngster Samuel Oji who gave the away side the lead with a fine header at the far post.

On 26 minutes French duo Bedi Buval and Reda Kribib combined well to set up recent first team debutant Joey O'Brien for a fine equalising goal to cap off a good week for the young Dubliner.

The second half saw Wanderers pile the pressure onto their opponents with Danny Livesey, Duong Thach and Buval all managing to test Birmingham goalkeeper Nico Vaesen.

Bolton duo Rhys Powell and Ricardo Vaz-Te saw their efforts go high and wide with Barrowman and Marcos Painter having chances at the other end to win the game but finding ex-Blue Kevin Poole alert to any danger.
