Bolton Wanderers reserves indifferent run continued as they went down to the FA Premier Reserve League leaders Aston Villa at the Bescot Stadium this evening.

Two first half goals from Stefan Moore and Stuart Bridges where enough to give the Villans a 2-1 advantage and helps them get back on track following a defeat to Blackburn Rovers last week.

Wanderers on the other hand will need to get back to the drawing board as this is now their fifth defeat since the turn of the year, quite a contrast from their first team counterparts.

Villa included seasoned internationals Darius Vassell and Martin Laursen in their line up as they extended their lead at the top of the table by four points whilst Bolton had the experience of Florent Laville and Andy Oakes to call upon.

The home side took the lead early on in the game when a left wing cross by Amadou Kouman was headed home by Moore at the near post. Seconds later Australian midfielder Kyle Nix went close with a shot from distance but was denied by Bolton keeper Andy Oakes.

Midfielder Jamie Ward then struck the post for Villa with a fine free kick from 20 yards which had Oakes beaten. The youngster went close again before the break with a header which failed to hit the target.

Stuart Bridges added a second for Villa with five minutes to go before the half time break, it was Kouman again who was the provider for the goal with a low ball in from the left.

After the break French forward Bedi Buval fired over the crossbar for Bolton in what was relatively the first attack of the game for the Lancashire visitors. On 57 minutes James Sinclair pulled a goal back for the Trotters firing past Stefan Postma following a good long ball by midfielder Dale Whitehead.

Bolton's Florent Laville then cleared a Nix shot off the line to prevent Villa from further extending their lead whilst Vassell also went close with a shot which narrowly missed the goalmouth.

The lively striker Sinclair could have added an equaliser for a spirited Wanderers side with 10 minutes to go but he saw his effort on goal blocked by Foley.

Vassell, Kouman and defender Laursen also went close for the home team in the closing stages as Villa looked to go one step closer to retaining their reserve league crown.
