Wigan Play Down Pedersen Talk

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell feels that the Latics will find it hard to finance a deal for the transfer listed Bolton Wanderers striker Henrik Pedersen.

Pedersen is currently open to offers as Bolton look to free up some cash during the transfer window but Jewell has stated that the former Silkeborg striker will command a wage which is out of Wigan's budget.

"Pedersen is undoubtedly a good player but would probably be a bit out of our range wages wise, Certainly at the moment anyway." Jewell said

The Latics chief has been linked to Pedersen, Liverpool's Neil Mellor and Mohammed Sylla of Celtic in recent days but he was quick to stress that neither player would be making their way to the JJB Stadium.

"I know we're being linked with quite a few players but I have to say that I don't know where half the stories have come from. Of the names I've seen I am willing to say that there isn't really a chance that we will be bringing in Neil Mellor, Momo Sylla or Henrik Pedersen.
