Ward hoping to grab his chance

The promising young striker spent time at Coventry City and Huddersfield Town last season and is likely to be in demand once again should Wanderers decide to loan him out.

However, while Coyle is understood to be in the market for more firepower - Bolton currently have just Kevin Davies and Ivan Klasnic on the books as recognised strike options - 19-year-old Ward will be hoping to make a favourable impression during their tour Stateside.

It is understood Wanderers have been contacted by a handful of League One and Two clubs over loan deals for many of their young starlets, including Ward, Tom Eaves and Michael O'Halloran.

But Coyle is willing to check out each one of them in the club's eight pre-season friendlies, which commence on Thursday July 14, with a game against FC Tampa Bay.

Wanderers play Orlando SC on July 17 before contesting the Charities Cup against MLS side Houston Dynamo on July 20
