Bolton Wanderers are said be putting the finishing touches to a deal that will bring Brazilian superstar Rivaldo to the Reebok Stadium for next season in one of the most sensational transfer swoops in the club's history.

The Bolton Evening News has reported that the player has accepted the terms offered to him by manager Sam Allardyce and could sign an agreement as early as next week as he is currently staying in a Manchester hotel.

Rivaldo 32, is a World Cup winner with his country and has also won the World and European footballer of the year awards at domestic level in a career which has seen him serve the likes of Deportivo La Coruna, Barcelona and finally AC Milan whom he left under much controversy over the Christmas period. He has been playing in his homeland with Cruzeiro since but his contract was terminated last month to enable the player to return to Europe following the sacking of Cruziero's head coach Wanderley Luxembergo.

Allardyce has already recruited names of the calibre of Jay-Jay Okocha, Ivan Campo, Youri Djorkaeff and Mario Jardel in recent seasons and the imminent arrival of Rivaldo, is, if concluded successfully, yet another piece of fantastic business by the Bolton boss which will hopefully take Wanderers to new heights in their 127-year history.
