Wanderers boss refutes Jardel rumour

Mario Jardel will not be heading for Bolton Wanderers, that was the statement in which the Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce made today in response to earlier newspaper reports which claimed the Sporting Lisbon forward was on the verge of signing for the club.

Some reports in the media this morning suggested that Jardel, who has been made available for two million euros to any club who is willing to pay the asking fee, was on his way to Bolton in a £1 million deal after weekend talks between club and player but Allardyce who is in for a striker and has shown an admiration for the Brazilian in the past quickly denied the speculation.

"We will not be signing Jardel from Sporting Lisbon, he has not been at the club" Allardyce quipped.

This comes just a week after the Bolton manager had admitted he tried to sign the 29 year old in the January transfer window only to be knocked back because of red tape. With Bolton dropping out this now leaves the door open for any potential buyers to make a move with Middlesbrough, Rangers, Wolves, Torpedo Moscow and Spurs all having previously shown an interest.

Bolton will now look elswhere, but in my opinion you won't get another player as prolific as Jardel for such a bargain, i feel we have shot ourselves in the foot there.

Meanwhile the club have been linked with a loan move for 22-year old Cameroon star Solomon Olembe, the Marseille midfielder who also interests Middlesbrough and Blackburn
