Wanderers begin Malta tour

Bolton arrived in Malta yesterday in preparation for the first of two friendlies against top Maltese sides Birkirkara and Floriana which will take place next week at the ground of Hibernians FC (Malta).

The traingular tournament begins today when Birkirkara and Floriana meet each other in the battle of the two "home" sides whilst on Tuesday night Bolton, who are in fantastic form over the pre-season period, will get to pit their wits against Birkirkara who's captain Chucks Nwoko is a compatriot of Wanderers Player of the Year Jay-Jay Okocha.

The final game of the tournament will take place on Thursday evening when the Premiership side face Floriana. Floriana are using the match as a testimonial for Dennis Cauchi and former Bolton Wanderers winger Roger Walker is expected to guest for the home side against his hometown team whom he left in 1986 for Maltese shores. The home side will also check out Nigerian striker Chika Onyekaba who has joined the club on a trial basis.

The Awards ceremony will take place next Friday (1st August)
