Trotters Hunt Cesar

Deportivo La Coruna centre half Cesar is 28 years old and Allardyce is keen to sign him until the end of the season on loan.

"I would like to sign him," said Allardyce after seeing his patched up side win 3-0 in the FA Cup third round at Watford in the absence of seven first team players.

"I played the only 11 senior players that were available today, with the exception of Jussi Jaaskelainen, who was rested.

"To play the way we did under the circumstances was fantastic. We needed a good performance from them all, because we had only Academy players on the bench so we could not strengthen the side.

"It was a terrific display, especially in the first half. We nullified Watford's threat, scored two goals and could have had more.

"We weathered their storm at the start of the second half, then we probed again and Ricardo Vaz Te scored an excellent goal, which will give him a lot of confidence.

"I don't think it was that easy, but we made it look easy with our excellent play," Allardyce added. "We were expecting a hard, physical challenge, but we dealt with that very well.

"They couldn't get a tempo going, but that was because of the way we kept possession and our success in breaking their offside trap.

"Everyone did very well today - perhaps better than we would have expected - and we hope that continues.

"These players now have the opportunity to play more than they have recently, and if they keep playing like that it well help us in the Premiership as well as in the FA Cup."

Meanwhile, Bolton have released former France midfielder Martin Djetou.

The ex-Fulham player moved to the Reebok Stadium as a free agent on a short-term deal in October but made only five appearances, three of them as a substitute.
