Thome linked with Trotters move

Former Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea and Sunderland defender Emerson Thome is being linked with a Free Transfer move to Bolton Wanderers as Sam Allardyce looks to strengthen his defensive options following the exits of Gudni Bergsson, Mike Whitlow and Paul Warhurst over the summer.

Brazilian born Thome has been allowed to leave The Black Cats on a Free Transfer despite still having another 12 months to go of a four year contract and it is thought he is being shortlisted by the Trotters manager Sam Allardyce to give Bolton options in the centre of defence.

Although he has suffered much with injury problems in the past two years the former Benfica player is still very solid and dependable when called upon and despite a move to Glasgow Rangers not materialising last month maybe this could be a good move for both parties.
