Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos has responded to comments made by his manager Sam Allardyce during the week which claimed that the Greek star is in a world of his own following the European Championships.

Allardyce was critical of the former Olympiakos man during last weekends defeat to Fulham claiming that the player thought of himself as "a Greek God" after his summer exploits with Greece but Stelios was quick to respond saying that he has heard nothing from his manager.

"I am not like a little kid that has had his first taste of success and I'm flying around with my head in the clouds, In Greece, I had many title wins with Olympiakos and I know what it means to win something.

"I also know that despite winning a trophy, you have to come back and work even harder to prove you are a good player. The more success you have, the more people watch you and it is important to keep a good standard.

"The manager may have said something to the press, but he didn't say anything to me. If it was a real problem, I'm sure he would have spoken to me."
