Speed To Miss Plovdiv Clash

Gary Speed looks set to miss Bolton's European bow against Lokomotiv Plovdiv after suffering a hamstring injury in training.

Sam Allardyce believed the veteran midfielder's wealth of European experience would be a vital asset in the UEFA Cup clash, but is resigned to Speed sitting the match out.

"It is rather disappointing that Speedo picked up a hamstring pull in training," Allardyce told the club's official website.

"He didn't complete the training session and is unlikely to figure in the game."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and striker Kevin Davies were only able to take part in light training because of ankle knocks, but Allardyce expects both to play on Thursday.
