Silkmen Shelve Johnson Interest

Macclesfield Town manager David Moss has put his interest in Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jermaine Johnson to one side for the time being after the player was sent off playing for Bolton Reserves against Newcastle United on Monday.

The Silkmen had expressed an interest in taking the 23-year old Jamaican international on a months loan but Moss has said any deal now would be pointless as the ban he has recieved will cover any potential loan period.

"It's pointless bringing him on loan now that he has received this red card. He will be missing for four games which is half of his loan spell with us." Moss said

However he didnt rule out making another move for the player once his ban has expired

"I will go back and have another look when he is clear from this suspension because I would like to bring him to the club on loan" he added

Johnson has rarely featured since his move from Tivoli Gardens two years ago and it remains to be seen whether the midfielder will remain in Sam Allardyce's plans after missing out on playing for the club in the Carling Cup last week. A loan move to Macc's Division 3 rivals Yeovil Town failed to materialise in August due to the players injury problems so this will come as a huge blow for the young midfielder who will want some first team action again.
