Sam: 'Hunt For England'

Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce is convinced fullback Nicky Hunt will eventually play for England.

"(Gary) Neville is into his 30s now so you look behind that to see where the next right back comes from and you've got to look at Nicky Hunt and Glen Johnson at Chelsea," said Allardyce.

"They're the two biggest competitors in the right-back position that England have for the future."

Allardyce believes the arrival of former Liverpool midfielder Sammy Lee as his assistant will give players like Hunt and 23-year-old midfielder Kevin Nolan the chance to develop further.

"Having Sammy Lee will give them the full recognition to show just what good players they really are," he said.

"He'll be working with them on a day-in day-out basis and I'm sure he's been pleasantly surprised by the talent of those players and of course we hope more coming in behind, but for those two particularly.

"Kevin has four years' Premiership experience now and Nicky has two years' experience, going into a third year and there are not many young players of that age competing in the Premiership on a regular basis.

"They will be the backbone of Bolton for many years to come hopefully. Most of the time the foreign players we have taken the opportunity to take the headlines but these two players are very special to us."
