Sam Hopes For Positive Result

Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce says that gaining a result from their Boxing Day trip to Manchester United is more important than ever before.

Allardyce's men have taken just two Premiership points since their win against Newcastle United back in October, and the Bolton boss wishes that he could have gone to Old Trafford under more different circumstances to what the team currently find themselves in.

"We'd prefer to go to United on a high and know that if we didn't get a result it didn't matter.

"But now the result matters for us more than ever before. If we'd continued our good run up the table everyone would have forgiven us if we didn't get anything there.

Manchester United have an excellent record on their home patch and this is something the Wanderers boss is all to aware of ahead of the game. He admits that his side will have to give their best and more if they are to dig out what is being forecast as an unlikely victory.

"Now it is more important than ever before to get anything at Old Trafford. That puts extra pressure on us because we could play to our very best there and that might still not be enough."

Bolton have twice recorded victory at Old Trafford since the Premiership began.
