Midfielders Jay Jay Okocha, Khalilou Fadiga and Hidetoshi Nakata and striker Jared Borgetti have been frustrated at their lack of first team action this season, but could face an extended spell on the sidelines due to the rapid emergence of youngsters such as Joey O'Brien and Ricardo Vaz Te.

Allardyce said: "We've got Hidetoshi Nakata, Jay Jay Okocha, who has been one of our most influential players in the Premiership, Kal Fadiga, who has come back from injury, and Jared Borgetti, who are all sat behind the first 11 at the moment on a more regular basis than they want to be.

"Their challenge is playing well when they get the opportunity, and if they play well, they will keep the white shirt.

"Don't moan at me, or shake your head when I bring you off or don't pick you - because it is your fault, you haven't been playing to your best.

"Joey O'Brien and Ricardo Vaz Te are pushing the hell out of the first team players for their shirt."
