Sam Expecting Magpies Battle

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has told his side to brace themselves for a battle as they travel to St James Park to take on Newcastle United this Sunday lunchtime.

The Bolton squad have just returned from a training exercise in Tenerife and Allardyce says that he expects the Toon Army to come out fighting when the two sides go head to head.

"The lads had a good time and a good work-out, playing volleyball and head tennis on the beach.
Now we are ready for a very competitive match on Sunday." Allardyce told the official website.

One plus point for the Bolton manager is that his side have had a lot more time to prepare for this game given the fact that Newcastle have had to play a second leg UEFA Cup tie against Dutch club Heerenveen yesterday evening.

"I hope there might be some legacy from the game on Thursday in terms of the fatigue Newcastle may have and we can try and take advantage of that. Graeme will want to improve their position in the league, but the UEFA Cup is probably his priority now.

"Everyone knows the Geordie fans are desperate to get their hands on some silverware. If they won that trophy it would be a major achievement for Graeme - because they have been starved of that kind of success for many years."
