Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce praised only goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen following Saturday's dismal 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough and claimed the team would need to improve if they are to reach their end of season targets.

An own goal by midfielder Kevin Nolan and a goal from former Manchester United player Jonathan Greening where enough to give the Teesiders a 2-0 victory over the Trotters and Allardyce claims his side will not win another game between now and the end of the season if they continue to perform to such standards which where shown at the Riverside Stadium.

"I'm bitterly disappointed with the performance and the result. Our goalkeeper was the only one who deserved any credit" fumed Allardyce

"We are still on 37 points and our target is to get to 40. Then we have to try and get beyond 44 so that we can show some progress"

Allardyce said that his side failed to play to the capabilities that had been shown in recent weeks against the big three teams and bemoaned how his players made it an easier for Middlesbrough to secure the win.

"But we will never win another game if we play like we did against Middlesbrough. No disrespect but they are not quite as good as the three teams we played recently in Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea."
