Rioch Goes To Denmark

Bruce Rioch has gone back into management after almost 5 years to manage Danish side Odense. He follows his son Gregor who has recently been appointed manager of Koge another side in the Danish league and describes the job as 'an exciting new challenge.'

"It's going to be a really hectic spell for me but I'm really looking forward to it," Rioch told the Norwich Evening News.

"To be honest, it's just great to be back. It's been some time since I was involved directly in the game and some people assumed they had seen the last of me.

"But I was just waiting for the right opportunity to come along. I have had a few offers over the years but none of them really appealed to me, but as soon as Odense got in touch I was interested and it didn't take me long to make up my mind. They wanted me to take over as head coach, or manager to you and me, and after meeting with them I was delighted to accept.

"Most of Denmark's top players tend to play abroad these days, but the standard over here is pretty good and I'm joining one of the leading clubs in the country.

"Now I've got less than a month to get everything sorted out before the start of the new season on July 20.

It's an exciting new challenge and I'm confident I can do a good job for the club."

The former Bolton manager was rumored to be a target for Sam Allardyce in an attempt to re-build his backroom staff, but this news now takes Rioch out of the running to replace Phil Brown or Neil McDonald.
