Ricketts Escapes Car Smash Unhurt

Former Bolton Wanderers striker Michael Ricketts, now of Middlesbrough has escaped unhurt with minor cuts and bruises after his car was involved in a crash on the M62 motorway in Greater Manchester at the weekend.


The 24-year old former England international was returning from Middlesbrough to his North West home when the accident happened between junctions 20 and 21 but the forward is okay and began training with the rest of his Boro team mates today.

Ricketts faced his former club for the remaining ten minutes of Boro's 2-0 win over the Wanderers on Saturday and manager Steve McClaren has said it is a releif that no one was hurt

"We are relieved that Michael emerged from what seems to have been a very nasty accident unscathed apart from only a few bumps and bruises. He was in for training as normal today."

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm an accident occurred at that location at 7.11pm. One vehicle was involved and there were no injuries."
