Bolton Wanderers wing back Ricardo Gardner has been ruled out of this weekend's local derby with Manchester United.

The Jamaican international will represent his country this week against El Salvador and Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce believes that the travelling to from the national game will take it out of the player hence his disinclusion in the weekend fixture against United.

Gardner will only return home to England late on Friday evening and Allardyce says that the clash against the Red Devils will be just too much to take on for the 25-year old.

One player who is written out of the equation before we even start is Ricardo Gardner.

"Because is playing in El Salvador on Wednesday he won't arrive home until 8:00pm on Friday after completing five flights. He quite simply wouldn't have the energy to mow his lawn never mind play Premiership football.

"That's a massive blow but when you've got some many international players you have to use your squad members, and this will be a case of us having to use another player to come and fill in that position who will be more capable than Ricardo on the day." Allardyce said
