Julio Cesar was sent off after just eight minutes and with the game still goalless with 15 minutes remaining Joey O'Brien received his marching orders to leave Wanderers with just nine men.

However, 5 minutes after O'Brien's dismissal Wanderer's were awarded a penalty when Bedi Buval was upended in the box and Blessing Kaku scored from the resulting spot-kick.
