The former Manchester United winger has been somewhat of an enigma since signing from Burnley in the summer but produced his best performance of the season in last weekend's derby victory over Wigan.
Eagles has yet to complete 90 minutes in a Premier League game, and while he has shone on occasion - most notably against QPR on the opening day of the campaign and Aston Villa in the Carling Cup - his lack of consistency has seen him fail to hold down a regular place in midfield.
Owen Coyle restored him to the team at the DW Stadium and was rewarded as Eagles netted his first league goal for the club.
Now, Reo-Coker has challenged him to keep pushing forward.
"Chris is a fantastic player but he's in the Premier League now, the challenge is for him to put in performances like that week-in, week-out," he told the Bolton News.
"It's an unforgiving league and he's a young player still and he has to step up to the plate.
"He has the ability and no-one else can do that."
Wanderers' first victory since the opening day of the season lifted them briefly out of the bottom three, but another three points against Sunderland at the Reebok this weekend would see them replaced in the relegation zone by Steve Bruce's Black Cats.
Reo-Coker reckons Saturday's result reflected the hard work put in over the international break, and hopes it will now pave the way for the Whites to climb the table.
"We've put in a lot of hard work," he added. "There has been no change in the manager, no change in the players - it has been the same at the training ground, the same attitude, the same smiley spirit.
"But if you want to turn things round, you have to work at it and that's what we have done. We've had a mini pre-season.
"The league starts again for us now and we know what is expected of us. It was a great performance and we are still creating chances, so we have to continue with the momentum."
