QPR Refuse To Give Up On Ferdinand Bid

Championship side Queens Park Rangers are set to make a renewed bid to sign Les Ferdinand in the New Year despite being told on two occasions that the veteran striker is not for sale.

Ferdinand is seen as the ideal man to spearhead the Rangers forward line but Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is unwilling to let the former England striker leave the Reebok Stadium and return to the club where he made his name in an eight year spell in the late eighties and early nineties.

The 37-year old has started just two games for Wanderers since his summer move from Leicester City and has not been involved in a Premiership match since the game with West Bromwich Albion over a month ago.

Rangers boss Ian Holloway tried to tempt Bolton to part with Ferdinand on loan but was twice unsuccessful in his attempts to land the London born goalgetter.

Holloway has made "Sir Les" his number one target and this is a view also shared by the R's chairman Bill Power.

"We need a striker and Les fits the bill." Power told the London press.
