Bolton Wanderers striker Henrik Pedersen is keen to keep his striking position next season and improve on his performances of last season despite ongoing speculation that his manager Sam Allardyce is set to bring in another striker who will get the team 15 plus goals.

The 28-year old Dane, who was signed from Silkeborg two summers ago, had his best run in the side last season notching up over 30 games after an injury hit first season with the club. He hit seven goals in 2002-2003 and was joint top goalscorer with Youri Djorkaeff, Jay-Jay Okocha and the now Middlesbrough forward Michael Ricketts. However Pedersen is keen to go one better next season, having put in some extra work over pre-season the player is keen to go into double figures on his goals tally for next season.

"It wasnt hard to keep fit as we where in pretty good shape at the end of last season" he told the Bolton Evening News.

"But i did some runs on holiday and lost a kilo. It was hard work in Italy, especially Training at altitude but we did a lot of ball work which was good." he added

He outlines his performances in the past but stresses he is keen to progress further "Hopefully this will be the season where things really start to happen for me"

"My first year was spoiled by injury but last season was a lot better than that, better than i expected. I was pleased to finish with my seven goals but my aim is to get higher. I want to develop myself as a team player and create chances for others. As well as scoring more, I had a lot of chances last year that i missed and hopefully i wont do that this year" he said

His form for the Trotters at the end of the season earned him a recall to the Denmark team and this is something with "The Carpenter" hopes will continue "I got back into the Danish squad at the end of the season and it will be a prime target to stay in the international reckoning, and that would be a bonus because if Denmark do want me it will mean that i am scoring goals for Bolton".

Assistant Manager Phil Brown praised the forwards effort when he said "Henrik has gone from having a stop start first year to playing something like 30 games last season and is going into his third to stake a claim with that confidence behind him"
