Okocha Talks Remain Ongoing Says Chairman

Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside has said that the club are still discussing a new contract with Nigerian international Jay-Jay Okocha despite weekend reports stating that the Wanderers captain would sign a new deal prior to next weekend's League Cup Final against Middlesbrough.

The report claimed that talks had been completed and the former Paris Saint Germain player would extend his contract at the Reebok Stadium, however Gartside says that such talk is premature and there is still a long way to go before the club's most prized asset will have his future decided.

"Talks have been on the go for a long time but we're not that close," Gartside said
