Nigerian captain Jay-Jay Okocha has opened talks with his club Bolton Wanderers regarding the possibility of extending his current contract when it expires in the summer.

The 30-year old playmaker joined Wanderers in the summer of 2002 under the Bosman ruling when his contract with French giants Paris Saint Germain had come to an end and he has won many admirers in England for being a key figure in the Trotters squad which has avoided relegation and gone on the verges of a UEFA Cup place.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Stutgaart had all been watching contract developments but now it seems as if the Bolton captain is ready to pledge his future to the Trotters and extend his stay in Lancashire.

"The club have shown an interest in keeping me here and things are looking good, That is good news for me and hopefully also for Bolton." Okocha told SKY Sports.

Futhermore Okocha has delayed travelling to the African Cup of Nations so he can participate in the Carling Cup Semi Final First Leg tie against Aston Villa in midweek which is good news for everyone connected with Bolton.
