Bolton Wanderers captain Jay-Jay Okocha has said that he is ready to open talks regarding a new contract following the 2-1 Premiership win over Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday.

The 30-year old Nigerian international was left on the substitutes bench for only the second time this season at Molineux coming on during the second half as a replacement for Per Frandsen to help Wanderers on their way to victory which now takes them to 41 points - a tally that is regarded as "safety" amongst many teams in the top flight.

With that in mind Okocha says he feels more relaxed about the future and is looking to sit down with manager Sam Allardyce and sort out a possible new contract for the future.

"We are in a better position now to start talking about the future. I think I will be more relaxed now and can carry on in a good position" Okocha told the club's official site

"I think we have progressed well this season and we have felt more confident this season than we did last season. It's good to have the feeling that we have done it because last season was a very difficult season for us and we only just survived at the back end of the season. Hopefully next season we can go on and do even better than we have done this season" he added
