Jay Jay Okocha has admitted that his representatives were approached by Al-Rayyan but insisted he did not speak to the Qatari club himself.
The Nigerian told the News of the World: "I did not want to get involved because it is illegal.
"They came to my lawyer and my brother but I just wanted to concentrate on the preparations for the season.
"I have a year on my contract, it is hard to say I'll be here beyond that."
"Things happen fast in football and I can only hope that I will stay at Bolton longer. There is a possibility but if not you have to move on."
