Nolan Kept On His Toes

Midfielder Kevin Nolan is of the opinion that the current Bolton squad is the best that he has seen in his five years as a professional footballer and says that competition for places is fierce as the Trotters look to better last year's eighth placed finish.

Nolan has put in a string of consistent performances since the turn of the year but knows that he has had to, with other quality players waiting to take his place should his performances falter.

"The squad now is probably the club's best ever, It is hard to keep your place week in, week out. That's the main reason behind my good form. You know that one bad game and you could be out of the side for a long, long time.

"The person taking your place is going to be a quality player. That keeps you on your toes. But I have been happy with my form over the last few months. Things have been going really well and it is an enjoyable time."

Nolan is ready to resume his place in the Bolton line up against Manchester City this evening having recently served a one match suspension in the away game at Newcastle United last weekend.
