No More Sleepless Nights For Khalilou

New signing Khalilou Fadiga is glad to have finally got his future sorted out after penning a one year deal to join the Bolton Wanderers ranks yesterday afternoon.

The Senegal international has endured a nightmare twelve months at Inter Milan where it was feared he may never play again due to the discovery of a defective heart condition.

Inter decided not to take a risk on the player they had paid Auxerre £5 million for in 2003 and later released him but summer surgery on his irregular heartbeat proved successful enabling him to continue his career in England with the Wanderers were he showed enough spirit during a recent trial to be offered a deal until the end of the season.

The 29-year old is happy to have his future sorted out and is looking forward to joining international team mate El-Hadji Diouf at the Reebok Stadium.

"It is great news, I will be able to sleep a little better now. I am keen to fight to get back to my best level." the African player said

Sam Allardyce, his new manager at Bolton, was also full of praise for the way in which he battled back to full fitness despite his initial disappointment of being told that he might have to consider the possibility of retirement.

"Many players could have retired in his situation but he was determined to be successful." Allardyce told the Manchester Evening News

"It is a wonderful attribute to have the determination to work so hard to come to the Premiership. His life must have been devastated when he was told he had a career-threatening defect and couldn't play, especially when you've got a family to support."

Fadiga is still a month to six weeks away from match fitness with Allardyce expected to ease the African back into first team duty gradually over the next few months.
