Another Departure
Chesterfield have signed Bolton Wanderers midfielder Derek Niven on a two-year contract and he will go straight into the Spirietes squad for the clash against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

The 20-year old was signed by Wanderers in December 2001 from Raith Rovers and was described at the time by manager Sam Allardyce as a player for the future, however the Falkirk born player was unable to break into the first team at the Reebok Stadium despite captaining the reserves on a number of occasions.

Niven had a successful ten game loan spell with Roy McFarland's team earlier in the season and the former Bolton boss was always keen to get the combative Scotsman back on the books at Saltergate. The departure of Niven is the fourth from the Bolton ranks this week Gareth Farrelly, Jeremy Bon and Jeff Smith all left the Reebok Stadium this week on Free Transfers.
