French ace Bruno N'Gotty has been hailed as a pillar of Bolton's recent success by the man who signed him from Olympique Marseille three years ago.

Sam Allardyce paid £500,000 to secure the services of N'Gotty in February 2002 following a successful loan spell and he says that the veteran defender is one of his most consistent performers.

"Bruno is the quiet man of the dressing room. He sits in the corner and sometimes I have to ask someone whether they've seen him because he's so quiet.

"He gets on with his job without any fuss but he's one of the most consistent performers we have had. Everyone goes on about Ivan Campo and Jay-Jay Okocha but no one has been more valuable than Bruno, He's been a pillar of our success."
