The Wanderers defender was dismissed during the first-half of the game with West Brom at The Reebok by referee Mike Riley following an alleged incident with Jason Roberts.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce, after studying TV replays of the incident, thought there was nothing malicious in the challenge, and so Wanderers appealed the officials decision.

However, the FA has upheld Riley’s original decision which means a three game ban for N'Gotty - he will miss Bolton's games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers.
