Nakata's Still Learning

Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce admits he's still waiting for Japanese midfielder Hide Nakata to catch fire.

"He's been OK in possession of the ball but he's got a lot to learn out of possession," said Allardyce. "He's got a lot of tracking back to mark the midfield player he's playing directly against. I think he let him go a couple of times.

"But when we did get him on the ball he did offer us some good passes and got us going from an attacking point of view."

Meanwhile, Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce believes Portsmouth's foreign legion may not gel until Christmas and thinks this could be a great time to face the south coast outfit.

Big Sam said: "When I brought in a lot of new faces a couple of years ago, it took us until Christmas to have everybody playing together.

"But Portsmouth have blooded more new players than us this summer.

"You can't play as a team when your players aren't familiar with each other and, if somebody wonders why, then they are rather stupid.

"Alain Perrin is already under huge pressure but it can't work overnight."
