Former Bolton Wanderers loanee Javi Moreno has left his nightmare spell with Atletico Madrid behind him by signing a one-year deal with fellow La Liga side Real Zaragoza.

Moreno made a handful of substitute appearances for the Wanderers last season including a cameo role in the infamous Carling Cup Final defeat to Middlesbrough.

He was unable to earn a permanent deal in England stating that he found it hard to settle during his time in Lancashire however a move across Spain to link up with Zaragoza could be the fresh start that is needed for the former AC Milan and Alaves star who first shot to prominence during the 2001 UEFA Cup Finals.

It remains to be seen whether the 29-year old forward will be returning to the Reebok Stadium this weekend as part of the Zaragoza team to take on Bolton in a friendly.
