Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has been dealt with a further injury blow having received the news that defender Simon Charlton has been ruled out for the next fortnight with a hamstring injury.

The 32-year old centre half/left back was taken off in the second half of Saturday's 4-3 win over Blackburn Rovers and is the second defensive casualty in a week following the news that Ricardo Gardner could be missing for some time with ligament damage, leaving the Bolton boss desperatly short of options on the left hand side of defence and Allardyce is now expected to plunge into the transfer market for some defensive cover ahead of next weekend's clash with Portsmouth at the Reebok Stadium.

"We are going to need to bring someone in before next weekend's game with Portsmouth" he said
