According to reports in an Italian newspaper AC Milan midfielder Fernando Redondo has rejected the chance of a possible loan move to Bolton Wanderers, instead preferring to remain at the San Siro until his contract runs out in the summer.

The veteran midfielder has suffered with injuries since his move to the Champions League winners from Real Madrid in 2000 and the Bolton manager Sam Allardyce was willing to offer the 34-year old Argentine a fresh start in English football, an offer which Redondo declined.

Allardyce had wanted to assess the players fitness during a trial but this was rejected forthwith and the player will remain in Italy trying to force his way into Carlo Ancelotti's side.
