Lonergan currently plays for Preston North End in the Championship and after suffering cruciate ligament damage last December is now fully fit and ready to move to the Premiership.
Manchester United are reportedly winning the race to sign the 22 year old who has played for England Under 21's and would cost around £2million to prise away from Preston.
