Local Rivals In Frandsen Hunt

Wigan Athletic have enquired about the possibility of taking former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Per Frandsen to the JJB Stadium next season.

The 34-year old former Danish international was released by Bolton on Monday after over eight years in two seperate spells and it seems as if the Wigan manager Paul Jewell is one of many Coca Cola League managers wishing to take the experienced campaigner on a Free Transfer.

Coventry City, managed by ex-Wanderer Peter Reid have also shown an interest whilst clubs in Denmark such as FC Copenhagen have looked into the possibility of taking Frandsen back to his homeland.

Meanwhile the Wanderers are said to be stepping up their interest in out of contract Leeds United striker Michael Bridges who has recently been out on loan to Newcastle United. The report suggests that Sam Allardyce sees the ex-Sunderland forward as an ideal strike partner for Kevin Davies.
