Bolton Wanderers defender Danny Livesey is staying with the club after manager Sam Allardyce blocked the youngster from moving to Notts County for a second loan spell as he needed him for the first team.

The 19-year old had looked to return to Meadow Lane for a second spell but the two clubs couldn't agree a loan deal before the New Years Eve deadline this coming after earlier speculation had stated that the Salford-born youngster would be in Nottingham until the end of the season.

However due to suspensions and injury the player will remain in the North West and has been included in the Bolton squad to face Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup third round.

A statement by a Notts County spokesperson read

"Contrary to reports in the local press, the club has not signed Danny Livesey on loan until the end of the season."

"The club was talking to Bolton about this possibility but would have had to sign the player by 5pm on December 31, 2003 for this to happen"

"Bolton were reluctant to let him leave as they wish to include him in their first team at the weekend and so the deal could not be completed."

Livesey had previously spent a successful period of two months on loan in September with Bill Dearden's team but now it seems that the Magpies will have to look elswhere for defensive cover.
