A possible deal to bring Liverpool forward El-Hadji Diouf to Bolton Wanderers appeared to be back on today as various sources claim that the Trotters have held talks with the Senegal international.

The 23-year old cost the Anfield club £10 million when moving from Lens two summers ago but has failed to fit in during his time on Merseyside prompting new manager Rafael Benitez to make the player available for transfer in his first few weeks in the Reds hotseat.

According to the Liverpool Echo the Reds would want a permanent transfer and are willing to accept a reduced fee in their attempts to offload the former African Player of the Year who has also interested clubs in Spain notably Malaga who are touted as the hot favourites to land the forward.

Bolton are said to have met the player for talks yesterday and could test the water for a season long loan deal as they attempt to keep the speedy striker in the Premiership, whether Benitez is willing to listen over temporary transfers remains to be seen.
