Bolton Wanderers defender Florent Laville has successfully come through a knee operation on his cruicate knee ligament injury which was sustained in last months home win over Middlesbrough and all being well the former Lyon captain should be back in first team action come March.

The 30-year old French defender was substituted after falling awkwardly near the centre circle during the first half of the Boro game and scans showed the influential defender would be missing for up to six months but Mark Taylor, Head of Sports Medicine at Bolton says it won't be long before Laville is back playing for the first team.

"Florent had a successful operation, He's on course and everything is going well"

"Six months is what we've aimed for and anything less will be a bonus. Jussi Jaaskelainen had a similar operation two years ago and came back in five months and two weeks."

Meanwhile the club are expected to open negotiations with Chilean defender Jorge Vargas who has been on trial at the club for the past week. The former Reggiana player is due to meet the Bolton chairman Phil Gartside for talks and a deal is hoped to be completed by next week where if succesful a work permit will need to be applied for.
