Kiely Expects Tough Opener

Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Dean Kiely knows it won't be easy when his side travel to the Reebok Stadium this weekend and has backed Bolton Wanderers to build on last years progress.

The Republic of Ireland international has been a key member of the Addicks team since moving from Bury four years ago and is proving to many involved in the game that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the top league.

Now entering his fifth season in the Premiership the 34-year old beleives that people would be crazy to write off the Trotters given their recent success in the Premiership and feels Bolton are a very similar club to Charlton in their expectations.

"Bolton are similar to us in that every season people say that this will be the year that their bubble will burst, but they keep proving everyone wrong" he said to Icons

"They had a great season last year finishing eighth and will be looking to back that up with another good campaign. Once again Sam Allardyce has made some fantastic signings in people like Fernando Hierro, Gary Speed and Les Ferdinand so you'd be crazy to write them off"

The experienced stopper claims that Bolton will up the stakes in the season ahead and aim to better the finish of the previous year.

"Like us they're not content to tread water and just accept survival. Sam Allardyce has uppped the stakes again and will ask the players to produce even more this season than last. I'm sure it will be a cracking game"
