Khali May Have To Retire

Bolton midfielder Khalilou Fadiga faces an anxious wait to see if he will play again after surgeon Hugo Vanerman voiced concerns about his future career as a professional footballer.

Vanerman performed a second operation on the midfielder yesterday after finding that some cardiac problems of the past had returned. An automatic defibrillator has now been fitted to try and stop further problems but the surgeon told Belgian newspaper Belga that the career of Fadiga is in serious doubt.

"It was an intervention that took no more than half an hour,The signs of arrhythmia from a few months ago have shown themselves again.

"The device is to help the patient avoid sudden death if there is a severe disturbance to the rhythm of the heart. The patient will probably leave the clinic in the next few days.

"Obviously it is a question of a serious sign of stopping his career as a professional footballer."

The Senegal international was given the all clear to resume his career earlier this year and made his comeback in the Premiership game against Crystal Palace a few weeks ago. Sadly it seems as if this will be his one and only appearance for Bolton but health must come ahead of football in this instance.
