Bolton Wanderers captain Jay-Jay Okocha saw his country Nigeria dumped out of the African Nations Cup last night as hosts Tunisia where the victors during a penalty shoot out after extra time had been played.

Okocha had given the Super Eagles the lead during normal time from the penalty spot but a goal from Tunisia captain Khaled Badra with ten minutes to spare meant that the game eventually went into extra time and then penalties but striker Peter Odemwingie missed his spot kick meaning that the tournament hosts will now be in the final of the competition.

The Nigerians will play Mali on Friday in the Play Off for third place but Okocha should be back in contention with Bolton by the time they face Manchester City at the Reebok Stadium next week.
